Work begins Oct. 2 on a project to improve native habitat and prevent erosion at Confluence State Park and Entiat Park.
Chelan PUD plans to stabilize and rehabilitate about 1,100 feet of riverbank at Confluence State Park with native trees, shrubs and river cobble. A similar project will begin Oct. 2 along about 120 feet of riverbank at Entiat Park.
Short-term impacts to park visitors will be minimal. Camping, picnic shelters, boat launches and other park amenities will remain open.
One of the paved trails at Confluence State Park will be detoured along the grass from the swim beach to the camping area. The shoreline work spans from the confluence of Wenatchee River to the northeast parking lot at Confluence State Park. The work and detour are expected to be finished by November, and planting will resume in spring.
The walking trail at Entiat Park will be detoured along the grass from approximately Lakeshore Drive near Entiat Museum to the playground. Entiat Park will be finished by November.
