Scams

Beware of SCAM calls about your utility bill!

Chelan County PUD wants to help you protect yourself from imposters who call and demand immediate payment of your power bill.

It might be a scam if:

  • They demand immediate payment. We work with customers to make payment arrangements.
  • They ask for payment with cash, a wire transfer, a prepaid card, or GreenDot card. We don't accept GreenDot cards for payment.
  • They ask for payment to a store or anywhere other than PUD offices.
  • They ask for lots of information, like your account number or address. We have that information if we're calling you.
  • They call in the evening or on the weekend. We only call on weekdays, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

When in doubt, hang up and call us!

Misleading Energy Claims

Customers sometimes report companies using high-pressure sales tactics or overstating energy savings from home upgrades. What can you do?

  • Get several quotes so you can compare prices with other companies.
  • Check whether a program and the claimed energy savings are legitimate through independent sources.
  • Take your time to make an informed decision.

Unsure about an energy savings offer or think a company is misrepresenting Chelan PUD programs? Call Customer Energy Solutions at (509) 661-8008.
