CONTRACT RATE

Earn while you learn! Chelan PUD pays $13.92 - $15.73 per hour (based on education, skills and abilities).

JOB DURATION

The student in this position will work full-time during the summer (Monday - Friday; typically 8:00 am - 5:00 pm) and may also work, if available, during winter and spring academic years (for one or two years, depending on student status, need, budget and performance). Local area students may also work up to 20 hours per week during the remainder of the year(s).

JOB POSTING

JOB PURPOSE:                        
Introduce a student to the field of business, accounting, information technology, customer service or other related area of study, to apply knowledge acquired in the classroom to real-work situations, as well as gain skills and experience. Students will work in the Customer Relations department and learn basic payment processing, provide support and backup for payment processing, filing, archiving, meter route reviews, Excel, key performance indicators (KPI) maintenance, and other projects as needed to support department needs. Student will acquire an overview of Customer Utilities and the services that the District provides and may assist in other Customer Utilities areas as need.

Student work schedules are limited to a maximum of 20 hours per week during the academic year, except during academic school breaks.  Students may work up to 40 hours per week during spring, winter, and summer academic school breaks. Student employment may not exceed two years from the date of hire.

JOB FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function of the job satisfactorily.

1. EF 25% Provide payment processing support.

2. EF 25% Provide support with filing and archiving. 

3. EF 25% Provide support with city tax and premise reviews with meter route files. 

4. EF 25% Assist with customer service functions in areas of Customer Utilities as needed. 

5. EF Ongoing Must immediately inform supervisor if student enrollment status changes and the employee no longer meet student eligibility guidelines.  

6. EF Ongoing Maintain regular and predictable attendance.  Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.  Comply with District policies.  Complete all required training. Maintain a working knowledge and comply with District safety procedures and specific safety requirements of this position, and those in accordance with applicable provisions of the Revised Code of Washington (RCW) and Washington Administrative Code (WAC).
 
QUALIFICATIONS: The qualifications listed below are representative of those required, but reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job. 

Education:
Must be at least 17 years of age at time of hire. Must be currently enrolled in a bona fide education program (in an accredited college or university) with valid documentation presented at hire and subsequent quarter/semester enrollments. Requires some pre-requisite coursework toward a business, accounting, information technology or customer service related field. Must be earning a minimum of 10 credits for each applicable quarter/semester and must maintain a minimum overall grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.

Experience:                        
No experience required for this entry-level position but previous customer service experience preferred.

Specific KSA's: A fully skilled incumbent will have the following specific knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Requires customer service and communication skills, written and oral, developed through work or educational experience, accounts receivable, cash handling or payment processing desired.

Language Skills:                        
Candidate must be proficient in reading, writing and speaking English. Ability to proficiently read, write and speak Spanish is desired.
