CONTRACT RATE

Earn while you learn! Chelan PUD pays $13.51 - $15.27 per hour (based on education, skills and abilities) for students pursuing mathematical, data science, engineering, physics, or software application/development degrees.

JOB DURATION

Chelan PUD has great opportunities for students.

Students in these positions can work a maximum of 20 hours per week during the academic year and may work full-time during the summer (Monday - Friday; typically 8:00 am - 5:00 pm). Students may also work, if available, during winter and spring academic years (duration of positions depends on need, budget and performance). Work locations may include Rocky Reach Dam, Rock Island Dam, and PUD Headquarters in Wenatchee.

JOB POSTING

JOB PURPOSE:
Work under the direction of the Generation Asset Manager working at the Rocky Reach and Rock Island Hydro facilities in a learning environment.  Support development of the asset management program by performing data gathering, entry, clean-up, analyses and report preparation.

Student work schedules are limited to a maximum of 20 hours per week during the academic year, except during academic school breaks.  Students may work up to 40 hours per week during spring, winter, and summer academic school breaks. Student employment may not exceed two years from the date of hire. 


JOB FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function of the job satisfactorily.  Essential functions (EF) are those activities that, if not performed, would significantly and fundamentally alter the position.

1. EF 60% Perform data collection, entry, clean-up and analyses.

2. EF 20% Collect equipment data by inspection, interviewing engineers and testing

3. EF 10%  Assist with Asset  Management process development support

4. EF 5% Generate and modify asset condition reports.

5. EF 5% Collect field data and perform inspections within the powerhouses.

6. EF Ongoing Must immediately inform supervisor if student enrollment status changes and the employee no longer meet student eligibility guidelines.   

7. EF Ongoing  Maintain regular and predictable attendance.  Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.    Comply with District policies.   Complete all required training. Maintain a working knowledge and comply with District safety procedures and specific safety requirements of this position, and those in accordance with applicable provisions of the Revised Code of Washington (RCW) and Washington Administrative Code (WAC).

QUALIFICATIONS: The qualifications listed below are representative of those required, but reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job. 

Education:
Requires a high school diploma or general education degree (GED), or current participation in a Running Start Program and in senior year of high school curriculum (including home-based education).   Must be at least 17 years of age at time of hire. Must be currently enrolled in a bona fide education program (in an accredited college or university) with valid documentation presented at hire and subsequent quarter/semester enrollments.  Requires some pre-requisite coursework toward a technical degree such as engineering, physics, mathematics, data science or software and application development.  Must be earning a minimum of 10 credits for each applicable quarter/semester and must maintain a minimum overall grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.

Experience:
No experience required for this entry level position.

Specific KSA's: A fully skilled incumbent will have the following specific knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Requires good analytical and interpersonal skills.  Strong math aptitude preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications required. Familiarity with Microsoft Excel is required. Familiarity with maintenance management and project management information system software preferred.  Familiarity with statistics and mathematical modeling preferred. 

Language Skills:
Candidate must be proficient in reading, writing and speaking English.

Computers & Equipment: A fully skilled incumbent will have the ability to utilize the following software, hardware, or equipment:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet Explorer Internet software; Maximo Asset Management & Maintenance software; Database software; Microsoft Excel spreadsheet software and Microsoft Word software.
