Conservation/Environment Energy Conservation

Tip of the Week

It may seem obvious, but remember to dress warmer on colder days. It's less expensive than turning up the heat.

In the Spotlight

Learn the answers to winter's most vexing energy questions and view a video on how to set your heat pump thermostat in this PUD Spotlight feature.

Time to weather strip

Check weather stripping on exterior doors and windows. Adjust or replace it if you can see light or feel a draft. Need help? Watch this video featuring PUD energy expert Mark Wiser.

Why conserve?

Both Chelan County PUD and its customers benefit from efficient use of energy. At times, the PUD must rely on outside power to supplement its hydro resources, particularly in the winter heating season. Energy saved in homes and businesses reduces the need to purchase higher-cost power on the wholesale market. This in turn helps keep local electric rates low.

Greater energy efficiency makes the most of energy resources, reduces energy shortages, lessens our reliance on energy imports and minimizes pollution.
