Engineering Internship

In our continuing effort to promote good community relations and serve our customers, Chelan PUD hires outstanding college students majoring in engineering into our internship program.

The purpose of the internship is to provide meaningful practical and professional experience to students with proven academic performance and leadership potential. The participating students receive valuable work experience and Chelan PUD benefits from their expertise.

Under the guidance of experienced engineers, internship students are involved in all aspects of engineering in our hydro utility. Although there is no guarantee of full-time employment, students making a long-term commitment to integrate classroom studies with learning through productive work experience at Chelan PUD may be invited to pursue an engineering career upon graduation.

Internship positions are available May through August – depending on school schedule. Participating students earn a competitive wage while working full time during the summer and academic breaks, with the opportunity to return for multiple summers prior to graduation.

Internships are typically announced in January under Job Opportunities. Students attending Pacific Northwest colleges and universities are invited to apply using the online application process. A student whose permanent residence is in Chelan PUD's service area will also be considered for the program.

The best part of Tim Scheumann's internship was applying engineering principles to real life situations and knowing his college classes were directly related to situations faced by engineers at hydroelectric projects on regular basis. It was an engaging way for him to make the jump from the academic world to the engineering industry. "My coworkers and boss were excited to share their knowledge with me, while also challenging me to expand my personal abilities."
