Confluence Parkway

Confluence Parkway/Confluence State Park Workshops

The City of Wenatchee is working to complete preliminary design and the environmental assessment for the Confluence Parkway Project. The project is designed to alleviate congestion along North Wenatchee Avenue.

A section of the Confluence Parkway alignment is proposed to run parallel to the railroad and west of Confluence State Park, Horan Natural Area, and the current location of the Apple Capital Recreation Loop Trail owned by Chelan PUD as recreation areas under its federal license for the Rock Island Hydroelectric Project.

The Confluence Parkway Project includes an exchange of about six acres of park land running parallel to the railroad with land of similar or higher recreational and environmental value along the southern border of the Horan Natural Area. The project also includes a proposal to move the Apple Capital Recreation Loop Trail off Hawley Street to a dedicated path and incorporate noise, aesthetic, and other mitigative features into the project and trail design.

Public Open Houses:

In late March 2022, the PUD held a series of trail walks and open houses to seek input on the City’s proposed alignment of Confluence Parkway and the enhancement and protection measures designed to reduce impacts to Confluence State Park and the Horan Natural Area. More than 1,000 people submitted online surveys, attended open houses and shared input with PUD staff on local trails.
