Wapato Way Fiber Expansion

Wapato Way Final Map

What & Why

Chelan County PUD is beginning work on Wapato Way (see map) to prepare the neighborhood for new fiber optic internet service. Crews will install conduit and equipment needed to deliver reliable, high-speed fiber to local homes. As part of this project, older electrical cables and conduits will also be replaced to improve safety and reliability, but the primary benefit for customers is expanded access to fiber-optic internet.

When & What to Expect

  • Start Date & Duration: Work is expected to begin in late December and will last about four weeks. Crews will work Monday–Thursday, 7 a.m.–5 p.m.
  • Traffic Impacts: No delays expected. Work will occur mainly in the road shoulder. Watch for posted signs.
  • Power Outages: None planned during this phase.
  • Construction Activities: Paramount (Chelan PUD’s contractor) will trench and install new conduit, transformers, and fiber equipment. Some construction noise is expected.

What's Next:

  • Chelan PUD crews will return in a later phase to install upgraded electric and fiber cables.
