Chelan County PUD

Chelan County Public Utility District was formed in 1936 by local voters who wanted affordable power for all county residents. We delivered our first electricity 11 years later, to a small group of customers near Lake Chelan. Today, we operate three hydro projects that deliver clean, renewable, low-cost energy to local residents and to other utilities that serve millions of residents of the Pacific Northwest.

Heads up: Annual transmission line inspections start next week

by Rachel Hansen | May 20, 2025

WENATCHEE, WA – Residents may see a helicopter flying low and slowly over high-voltage power lines starting Monday. Chelan PUD is conducting a routine, annual inspection over 300 miles of transmission lines.

Weather permitting, the inspection route next week will follow transmission lines from Cashmere to Malaga, then up to the Chelan-Manson area. The aircraft will be a grey and white Long Ranger with tail number 902EH.

When the snow melts in a few weeks, inspections will resume from Cashmere to Stevens Pass.
