Chelan PUD is responding to widespread power outages across the county. Fallen trees, broken powerlines and flooding have created significant challenges for crews working to restore service.
Safety remains our top priority as crews work to restore power as quickly and safely as conditions allow. All available Chelan PUD personnel are deployed across the county, supported by mutual aid crews from Douglas PUD and Okanogan PUD.
As of 5 p.m. Thursday, about 5,700 customers remain without power, primarily from Leavenworth to Stevens Pass. Here’s an update by area:
- Leavenworth: The greater Leavenworth area is expected to remain without power for 24 hours or longer.
- The most extensive damage is near Leavenworth Substation.
- Peshastin: Restored. Peshastin Water District customers may resume typical water use. Customer service will reach out to individual customers where septic equipment is underwater.
- Lake Wenatchee, Plain, Stevens Pass: Restored.
- A helicopter inspection confirmed minimal damage along the transmission line between Sunitsch Canyon to Coles Corner.
- Crews have inspected and repaired neighborhood distribution lines. If your power is not restored, please call the outage line at 1-877-783-8123.
- However, we’ve observed some heavy flooding near powerlines. Electrical service may be intermittent. Customer service will reach out to individual customers where septic equipment is underwater.
- Cashmere, Blewett Pass: Restored.
- Chelan, Manson area: Restored.
- Stehekin: About a dozen power poles are down, and the storm heavily damaged the landing and surrounding roads. Once access is restored, crews will bring in materials to repair lines and begin power restoration. The outage may last several days, depending on accessibility and damage.
Incident Management
Chelan PUD has activated an Incident Command team focused on ensuring employee and public safety, restoring power as quickly as possible, and prioritizing repairs to critical community services, such as water and wastewater facilities, cell towers and medical care. Communication with emergency responders and the public will continue throughout the duration of the incident. Briefings are being held throughout the day as conditions evolve.
Customer Information

Safety Reminders
Customers are urged to stay far away from downed power lines. Always assumed downed lines are energized and dangerous. Do not drive over downed lines or approach standing water where a line may be present.
If using a generator, ensure it is operated outdoors and away from open windows. Never plug a generator into a wall outlet, as this can back-feed electricity into power lines where crews are working.
To prepare for a long-duration outage, stock up on water, ice and nonperishable food. American Red Cross opened a shelter in Cashmere, where customers can charge devices, get information and warm up.
