Electrical upgrades along Ohme Rd and Mari Lane Rd will begin late-June
Chelan County PUD is set to upgrade the electrical infrastructure along Ohme Road and McMullan Road, extending from the Ohme Garden Road intersection for approximately half a mile. In addition, improvements will be made to the electrical system on Mari Lane Drive and Alpine Court.
These upgrades will replace outdated equipment to ensure reliable service and accommodate future growth
Some areas may require new easements to remove overhead lines and install underground lines, as current land rights are for overhead lines only.
- Start Date & Duration: Work is scheduled to begin in late June and will continue throughout the summer.
- Working Hours: Construction will typically take place Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Traffic Impact: Expect periodic one-lane closures with flagger-controlled traffic throughout the duration of the project. Please stay alert for posted signs in the area.
- Power Outages: There may be scheduled power outages. Affected customers will be notified in advance.
- Construction Activities: Chelan PUD contractor Smith Excavation will be installing new underground conduit using a combination of directional boring and open trenching. Once conduit installation is complete, Chelan PUD crews will follow with the installation of new electrical cables and related equipment throughout the project area.
- Overhead to Underground Conversion: The existing overhead lines will be converted to underground lines on Mari Lane Dr. New underground cable will be installed along Ohme and McMullan Roads, although the existing overhead lines and utility poles will remain in place.
- Communications Infrastructure: Communication wires that are not owned by the District must be removed by the respective communication companies at a later stage. Once this is completed, PUD crews will proceed with removing the old poles.
