What's Happening?

As part of this project, portions of the existing overhead electrical system will be relocated underground, and new electrical equipment will be installed. These improvements will support the long-term reliability of the downtown electrical system.

Construction Schedule

  • Construction is currently underway
  • Expected completion:  first week of October
  • Work hours: Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.

Construction schedules are subject to change based on weather, site conditions, and other circumstances.

What to Expect

During construction you may experience:

  • Temporary traffic and pedestrian detours
  • Construction crews, equipment, and noise
  • Temporary parking or street access impacts
  • Planned power outages for some customers; advance notice will be provided to those affected
  • Changes to traffic or pedestrian routes as work progresses
  • After the new underground electric facilities are energized, communication companies will remove their overhead lines. PUD crews will then remove the old utility poles.

Once the new underground electrical facilities are energized, communication companies will remove their overhead lines. PUD crews will then remove the existing utility poles.

Chelan County PUD appreciates your patience as we complete these important improvements. We will work to minimize disruptions and maintain access to businesses and properties whenever possible.
