Overview

Installing a modern, energy-efficient thermostat will give you better temperature control while saving money. Chelan PUD offers rebates to help you save now—and in the long run—when you install a qualifying thermostat.

What Type of Thermostat Will Work in Your Home?

It depends on your home's heating system.

Central Air


A smart thermostat will work in homes with centrally ducted resistance furnace or heat pump.

Zonal Heating


A line-voltage thermostat will work in homes with electric resistance zonal heating (baseboard, wall heater, ceiling radiant, or fan-forced air).

Smart Thermostats

$150 Cash Back on Qualifying Models

Amount valid for applications received by March 31, 2026.

Requirements

  • Thermostat must be connected to the internet through your Wi-Fi network and configured to your home’s location.
  • You must register your qualified smart thermostat as connected with the manufacturer.
  • The occupancy detection must be set to “ON.”
  • If you have a heat pump, the thermostat must be programmed to control your heat pump.
  • Limit of two smart thermostat rebates per dwelling.

Line Voltage Thermostats

Amount valid for applications received by March 31, 2026.

$40: Basic

 

Cash back on qualifying line-voltage thermostats (LVT).

 

Line-voltage thermostats (LVT) control zonal heating systems, like baseboards, wall heaters, and ceiling cables. LVTs keep the temperature of your space closer to the temperature you want, helping you stay more comfortable without wild temperature swings or high heating bills.

$75: Communicating

 

Cash back on qualifying line-voltage communicating thermostats (LVCT).

 

Communicating models (LVCTs) also allow you to control your temperature settings from your phone — handy when you head out of town. You'll save money while you're away and be able to turn up the heat before you get back home!

Requirements

All new line-voltage thermostat must meet the following requirements:

  • Have a digital display
  • Be electronically line-voltage type
  • Have a thermistor temperature-sensing element that is accurate to within 1.5 degrees Fahrenheit or better
  • Be UL- or CSA-listed for use with their application (e.g., fan-forced, baseboard, wall, or ceiling radiant)
  • LVTs that are programmable must maintain temperature and program settings during power failures and have a temporary override feature.
  • New line-voltage thermostat must replace the existing thermostat, except in new homes.
  • Communicating model LVTs must be on this qualified product list.

Application Checklist

  • Either the PUD customer or your contractor can submit a rebate application.
  • Rebate applications must be submitted within 12 months of purchase date.
  • Rebate can't exceed total thermostat cost.

Before you start the application, make sure you have the following information handy:

  • Receipt or invoice showing cost and smart thermostat model.
  • Photo of the installed thermostat.

    Print & Mail

    Fill out either the Smart Thermostat Rebate Application (PDF) or Line Voltage Thermostat Rebate Application (PDF) and mail it to the PUD for processing.

    Process Overview

    1. Purchase

    Purchase a qualifying thermostat model.

    2. Install

    Install the thermostat to the outlined specifications.

    3. Gather Receipt

    Gather your receipt or invoice showing the cost and model.

    4. Apply

    You or your contractor submits the rebate application and receipt.

    5. Review

    We'll review your application and may inspect the installation.

    6. Get Your Rebate

    If approved, you'll receive a rebate check by mail in 6-8 weeks.
