Chelan County PUD

Chelan County Public Utility District was formed in 1936 by local voters who wanted affordable power for all county residents. We delivered our first electricity 11 years later, to a small group of customers near Lake Chelan. Today, we operate three hydro projects that deliver clean, renewable, low-cost energy to local residents and to other utilities that serve millions of residents of the Pacific Northwest.

Kelly Boyd began her career at Chelan PUD in 1993 as a system accountant. Over the years, she served in many capacities, including auditor, business advisor and director of strategic financial planning. She became chief financial and risk officer 10 years ago.

She has been instrumental in increasing Chelan PUD’s strong financial position. With a AA+ rating by both Fitch and S&P, Chelan PUD is among the most highly rated utilities in the nation.

“It takes all of us doing our parts safely and at the highest level to maintain such high credit ratings,” she said.

Kelly is inspired by the public power legacy forged by past generations, who had the foresight to secure three hydroelectric projects in Chelan County.

“It was a huge leap of faith at the time, but ultimately, their vision benefits the whole community,” she said. “I am inspired and humbled to be part of helping that legacy remain strong for generations.”
