Chelan County PUD

Chelan County Public Utility District was formed in 1936 by local voters who wanted affordable power for all county residents. We delivered our first electricity 11 years later, to a small group of customers near Lake Chelan. Today, we operate three hydro projects that deliver clean, renewable, low-cost energy to local residents and to other utilities that serve millions of residents of the Pacific Northwest.

PUD crews working to restore power, internet to Leavenworth

by Rachel Hansen | Dec 12, 2025

Leavenworth crews work to restore power.

UPDATE 11 a.m. Saturday: Power to Cascade Medical and the downtown core was restored Friday night. Mountain Meadows and the surrounding area were restored Saturday morning.

Four Chelan PUD crews are now focused on the residential area of Leavenworth, north of Highway 2. The plan is to re-energize the main feeders by this afternoon, and then focus on repairing street-level powerlines that were damaged in the storm. That means some customers fed by damaged powerlines may be restored later than others.

Another crew is making great progress restoring power to the remainder of Chumstick Highway. They hope to restore power by the end of today (Saturday). We’re also working on restoring power to the Ponderosa neighborhood in Lake Wenatchee and in Peshastin around Blue Bird.

As power is restored, fiber internet will follow.

We know it’s been a long four days, and this situation has been hard on our customers. At Chelan PUD, we’re giving it our all to restore power as quickly and safely as possible. Thank you so much for your support and understanding.

WENATCHEE, WA – About a dozen crews are focused on restoring electricity and internet in the greater Leavenworth area this weekend.

Several areas were restored Friday, including East Leavenworth Road, most of North Road, parts of Icicle Road, and Cascade High School. Crews anticipate restoring power to Cascade Medical and most of the downtown core by Saturday morning.

“The 75 professionals in the field right now are going well above and beyond,” said Chelan PUD Director of Electric and Fiber Operations Dan Moser. “The progress they’re making is phenomenal, and we want to thank the community for their continued support.”

Crews made significant progress repairing the fiber internet network Friday. Crews anticipate restoring fiber internet for Plain and Lake Wenatchee on Saturday. As electrical service is restored through the weekend, fiber internet service will follow.

Safety remains our top priority as crews work to restore power as quickly and safely as conditions allow.
