Sports courts remain open, parking and trail access limited through November
Construction crews are moving in at Chelan Falls Park this week to start a bank stabilization project along the Columbia River.
Chelan PUD plans to stabilize and rehabilitate about 417 feet of riverbank with native plants, river cobble, and a designated river access point. This work is necessary to prevent further erosion from changing river flows, and the impact of waves and recreation along the Columbia River.
Short-term impacts to park visitors will be minimal. The sport courts, restrooms, boat launch and other day-use facilities will remain open, accessible by the south parking lot. The north parking lot will be closed to make way for heavy equipment and materials. Shoreline access will be restricted for the duration of the project.
Working hours will generally be Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The work is expected to be finished by December, and planting will resume in spring.
