Watch for construction crews and equipment along the Apple Capital Loop Trail near the Coyote Dunes Natural Area April 6-20. Chelan PUD is working on a series of improvements, including:
- A small gravel access trail for emergency responders
- Spur trail deterrents to protect the environment
- Interpretive signage about the area’s cultural history
The Loop Trail is expected to remain open for the duration of the project, but trail users can expect to see some vehicular traffic associated with construction.
Coyote Dunes is a 26-acre natural preserve area south of the Odabashian Bridge. Chelan PUD purchased the property from Washington State Department of Transportation in 2017. The land is within Chelan PUD’s Rock Island Hydro Project boundary.
Coyote Dunes does not include the sandy beach and much of the shoreline area, which is owned by the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR).
