Every day, we go to work hoping to do two things: provide reliable utility services and help make Chelan County a great place to call home. It was true when Chelan County PUD was established in 1936, and it’s just as true today.
On this page, called Spotlight, we'll feature stories about PUD projects and employees.
From green cars to green thumbs, customers can find information on eco-friendly living in the PUD’s Lightly newsletter.
The newsletter can be found in two formats: as a blog at lightly.chelanpud.org and on Facebook as “Lightly News and Tips.” Sign up to receive an e-mail postcard when a new round of stories is posted on the blog.
“Our goal is to provide useful information that helps customers choose products, services and behaviors that save energy, save money, and improve or maintain comfort,” said Susan Gillin, Conservation program administrator and Lightly editor. “Part of that is being mindful of a customer’s limited time, so we present our articles in a concise format, brief and to the point.”
Lightly is composed and edited by Conservation staff members, who gather news from around the county and around the world. Most of the stories focus on local people taking steps to reduce their energy use and carbon footprint. Stories from out of the area, gathered from online sources, provide links to information about new technologies such as the sleek Nest Learning Thermostat and breakthroughs in efficient lighting.
Lightly readers can ask questions of PUD staff or engage in conversations about energy-related topics. The newsletter also features videos with show-and-tell demonstrations, such as how to install weather-stripping properly.
In case you missed these, here’s a smattering of Lightly stories from around the area posted in the last year:
