Entiat North Substation

Chelan County PUD is working collaboratively with the City of Entiat to design and construct a new substation in North Entiat. The PUD worked closely with the City of Entiat to combine electrical load growth projections with City growth planning to site a new substation that meets electrical operational needs and fits the City’s vision for the future.

Selected Site

The site selected for the new Entiat North Substation had support from both the City of Entiat, the community, and Chelan PUD. It is located at the northeast corner of Highway 97A and Wisdom Ave, north of the baseball fields. This site was preferred because of its proximity to 97A and existing transmission lines for PUD maintenance and operational benefits, and its alignment with the City of Entiat’s planning vision.

For more information about site selection process, see the Entiat Future Station Planning presentation.

Project Timeline

In 2017, PUD infrastructure planning identified a need for a substation in the northern part of the City of Entiat to meet future power demand. In 2018, a potential site was identified, and in September 2018 the site was presented to both the Entiat City Council and the PUD Board of Commissioners for approval. The property was purchased in late 2018. The project is currently in the design and permitting phase.
