Weigh in on Chelan PUD’s plan to grow the electrical grid System impact fees proposed to help recover costs

by Rachel Hansen | Nov 09, 2021

Chelan County is one of the fastest growing counties in the state. With more people and businesses moving here, Chelan PUD needs to build more substations to continue providing sustainable, reliable electricity.

During the 2020-2024 strategic plan, customers expressed a preference that Chelan PUD keep electrical rates low while still encouraging economic development in the county. Customers also encouraged Chelan PUD to explore options where growth can help pay for growth.

To achieve the best value for the most people for the longest amount of time, Chelan PUD is proposing a nominal fee – called a system impact fee -- for new customers to help offset the cost of expanding the electrical grid’s capacity.

To learn more and share your thoughts, please visit the virtual open house about system impact fees at chelanpud.org/fundinggrowth through Nov. 19.
