Don’t take our word for it. If you’re looking for a great way to get the inside scoop on making hydropower, but aren’t up to climbing stairs or walking a long way, here’s what folks said about last year’s inaugural Senior Adult Tri-Dam Tours.
- “I have had dam tours in the past. This was the best by far.”
- “We are so glad to have this tour. Wenatchee is such a fun place to live.”
- Absolutely WONDERFUL!!!”
The Senior Tri-Dam Tour is a free, day-long adventure for senior adults on a bus to see Rock Island and Rocky Reach dams and the Lake Chelan Dam powerhouse at Chelan Falls, said Debbie Gallaher, Visitor Services manager. The program is for active, independent seniors who can get on and off the bus without help.
The 2018 tours kick off with a trip on Wednesday, March 14. A tour for Hispanic community members is April 7 and the season finale is on Sept. 27.
The tours will leave at 8:35 a.m. from the Link park ‘n’ ride lot on Penny Road in north Wenatchee and return about 4 p.m. There will be reserved parking spaces in the lot for tour-goers. There are only 30 spots on each tour.
“We have been on tours in the USA, Mexico, Canada, Japan, the Mediterranean and South America,” said a 2017 tour-goer. “This tour equaled any tour we have experienced.”
