CONTRACT RATE

JOB POSTING

JOB PURPOSE:                                 
Repair, install and maintain the District's electrical and electronic equipment in support of generation, distribution, Transmission, Parks, Safety, hatcheries, water/wastewater, security, information technology and other workgroups as needed in accordance with District safety guidelines, policies and procedures. This position performs essential functions critical to ensure secure and reliable communication infrastructure, control systems, relay protection systems and other electronic systems.  Responsible for preparing and maintaining documentation to meet regulatory requirements.

JOB FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function of the job satisfactorily. Essential functions (EF) are those activities that, if not performed, would significantly and fundamentally alter the position. Secondary functions (SF) are activities not fundamental to the job and may need to be relaxed to accommodate an otherwise qualified applicant with a disability. 1.    EF    50%    Install, remove, test, adjust, calibrate, program, and perform preventative, corrective and emergency maintenance on telephone systems, optical (fiber) transport systems, meters, relays, protection systems, Remote Terminal Units, Programmable Logic Controllers, digital fault recorders, Uninterruptable Power Supplies, System Control And Data Acquisition, various spectrums of radio communications, Network switches and routers.

2.    EF    20%    Install, remove, test, adjust, calibrate, program and perform preventative, corrective and emergency maintenance on alarm and control systems, channel banks, Sonnet, frame relay, ATM transmission equipment, Electronic cross connect switches, communication processors, Wi-Fi, Satellite, data acquisition and computer control systems.

3.    EF    15%    Install, remove, test, adjust, calibrate, program, and perform preventative, corrective and emergency maintenance on network hardware such as Telemetry, multiple address systems, security CCTV systems and access control systems.

4.    SF    10%    Perform tests, conduct studies, prepare standard and compliance reports, maintain standard and compliance records, and perform other duties as assigned.

5.    SF    5%    Effectively communicate with employees to transfer knowledge and information essential to the operation and performance of District equipment, hardware or software.

6.    EF    Ongoing    Drive a motorized vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the District.

7.    EF    Ongoing    Maintain regular and predictable attendance. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required. Comply with District policies. Complete all required training. Maintain a working knowledge and comply with District safety procedures and specific safety requirements of this position, and those in accordance with applicable provisions of the Revised Code of Washington (RCW) and Washington Administrative Code (WAC).

Post-Secondary Education:                                 
Two (2) years trade or technical school in the fundamentals of electronic theory is required.

Experience:                   
Requires two (2) years technical experience in construction, repair, and maintenance of electronic equipment in any of the areas listed in job responsibilities.
Also requires CPR Certification and valid First Aid card within six (6) monthsr of hire.

Specific KSA's: A fully skilled incumbent will have the following specific knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Knowledge:
•    Strong knowledge of electronic and electricity principles including current computer technology/systems.
•    Knowledge of techniques and procedures as used in electrical installations, maintenance and repairs.
•    Strong understanding of AC and DC circuitry
•    A valid FCC General Radio Operators License is required within one (1) year of employment.

Skills & Abilities:
•    Requires problem-solving skills.
•    Must possess basic keyboarding skills.
•    Requires good interpersonal skills.
•    Strong communication and writing skills. 
•    Ability to use test equipment, gauges or tools to take measurements and/or to take measurements with electrical or electronic test equipment.
•    Requires the ability to perform mathematical calculations including algebra.
•    Must be able to work in and around confined spaces and elevated areas.
•    Requires the ability to get along with others and follow directions.
•    May be required to successfully complete a pre-employment physical lift test.
•    Ability to troubleshoot problems to analyze the root cause and decide next actions. 
•    Ability to learn and comprehend new or unfamiliar material.
•    The ability to train others in practical electrical/electronic applications is desired.

Language Skills:                                 
Must be proficient in reading, writing and speaking English.

Computers & Equipment: A fully skilled incumbent will have the ability to utilize the following software, hardware, or equipment:

To perform this job successfully, an individual is required to have knowledge of PeopleSoft Timekeeping/HR; Microsoft Outlook; Microsoft Excel; Microsoft Word; Microsoft Access; Microsoft Project; Maximo Work Order Processing; PC Hardware; Servers; General Office Equipment; Power Equipment; ability to learn proprietary programming software; computer automated control; all electronic test equipment. Required to accomplish maintenance and repair functions on equipment with the use of frequency counters, power meters, network analyzers, Doble power analyzers, calibrators, optical test sets, cable analyzers, radio test sets, safety equipment, oscilloscopes data loggers, and calibrators, for instance.

LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

A valid driver's license is required for this position (verified upon hire).  A valid Washington State driver's license is required within 30 days of employment.
