JOB POSTING

JOB PURPOSE:                        
Reporting to the Drafting Superintendent, this position creates and maintains engineering documents for District systems, equipment and facilities, such as hydro power generation plants, electrical transmission and distribution systems, fiber optic distribution systems, parks, fish hatchery facilities, water/wastewater systems, and general office facilities.  

JOB FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function of the job satisfactorily.  Essential functions (EF) are those activities that, if not performed, would significantly and fundamentally alter the position.  Secondary functions (SF) are activities not fundamental to the job and may need to be relaxed to accommodate an otherwise qualified applicant with a disability.  In the aggregate, secondary functions typically account for less than 15% of the job scope.

1. EF 75% Prepare & maintain (from design to “as built”) mechanical, civil, electrical, architectural, structural and GIS type drawings as assigned.  Retrieve, collect, and file engineering documents.

2. EF 15% Research and locate accurate plans and drawings and provide copies to District project management, engineering, real estate, or other operational staff.

3. EF 5% Perform field data collection as needed.

4. SF 5% May assist surveyors in field work or perform cartography mapping. 

5. EF Ongoing Maintain regular and predictable attendance.  Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.  Comply with District policies.  Complete all required training. Maintain a working knowledge and comply with District safety procedures and specific safety requirements of this position, and those in accordance with applicable provisions of the Revised Code of Washington (RCW) and Washington Administrative Code (WAC).

Post-Secondary Education:                        
One (1) year of academic drafting from a college or technical school; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Associates degree or certificate in an engineering related field such as CAD drafting is desired.

Experience:                        
Requires one (1) year experience performing engineering drafting or similar duties using AutoCAD based software.
 
Specific KSA's: A fully skilled incumbent will have the following specific knowledge, skills, and abilities:
A working knowledge of drafting terminology, principles, techniques, and equipment.  Ability to use drafting instruments skillfully and accurately.  Ability to transfer data from "as built" drawings to master drawings with accuracy and neatness.  Ability to perform arithmetical calculations with speed and accuracy.  Ability to follow oral and written directions.  Ability to operate computer aided drafting equipment and AutoCAD based software.  Will be required to successfully pass drafting test administered by District. 

Language Skills:                        
Candidate must be proficient in reading, writing and speaking English.

Computers & Equipment: A fully skilled incumbent will have the ability to utilize the following software, hardware, or equipment:

To perform this job successfully, an individual is required to use general office equipment including computers, printers, plotters, scanners, copy machines and other miscellaneous office equipment.  Incumbents are also required to be able to use AutoCAD software and Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
