This job opening also creates a hiring pool of candidates to be considered for upcoming 2020/2021 general administrative/office support opportunities including "on-call" positions.

SALARY RANGE

In addition to a competitive hourly range of $20.54 - $28.41 (based on qualifications, skills and abilities), regular, full-time Chelan PUD employees also enjoy outstanding benefits which include the option of a zero cost medical plan (medical, dental and vision for all eligible dependents), short and long-term disability, Washington State Public Employee's Retirement System, Deferred Compensation (with company matching funds up to 5%), 11 holidays and initial personal leave accrual at 21 days per year.

On-call positions do not include benefits. In accordance with the Washington State Paid Sick Leave Law, non-benefitted employees accrue one hour of paid sick leave for every 40 hours actually worked.

Introductory Period: Non-bargaining unit employees holding regular positions must complete an introductory period of twelve months.

 

JOB POSTING

Chelan County PUD administrative/office support positions provide general and diversified support to a variety of departments with varied levels of management oversight. General support duties include typing, document and file management, composing and editing correspondence, managing calendars and schedules, answering phones, purchasing related duties such as processing invoices or purchase requisitions, scanning, archiving, cross-training and providing support to other employees and/or customers. The incumbent coordinates travel and meetings, often complex, multiparty scheduling and compiles and processes expense reports. In most roles, the incumbent provides customer service support, including fielding and responding to customer inquiries.

The complexity of job responsibilities vary depending on department assignment and/or manager level and may include special projects, resolutions, contracts, meeting minutes, agendas and coordination/management of electronic documents (records management, including policies, practices and actions associated with retention/destruction) and presentations. Some positions will require the ability to identify, recommend and implement system and continuous process improvements, including data integration, system change processes or other areas of efficiency gains and solutions.

Incumbents must demonstrate highly effective oral and written communication skills, including active listening and excellent interpersonal skills to provide end-user support in a variety of settings. Strong organization skills, accuracy, attention to detail, planning and coordination abilities are essential. Incumbents are expected to initiate action to resolve problems exercising judgement and diplomacy and at all times maintain confidentiality in sensitive situations. PUD employees generally work in collaborative environments and administrative/clerical staff members are expected to work well-together, providing support and knowledge transfer as well as cross-coverage to ensure seamless absences. The top applicants will demonstrate critical thinking and reasoning skills, professionalism, adaptability and flexibility.

Incumbents must demonstrate the ability to utilize and learn new data systems or reporting technologies, and general to advanced skills in Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel and SharePoint.

Higher level positions may support executive management and senior leaders.

Note:
Support positions interacting with the public as an essential function of job responsibilities have a preference for bilingual communication abilities in Spanish.

Some positions drive a motorized vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the District.

Post-Secondary Education:      
Most administrative/office support positions do not require post-secondary education. However, candidates with some college or technical training related to business or office administration are preferred. 

Experience: 
All administrative support positions require the successful completion of District clerical tests (typing net 40 wpm, Excel at 50% and Word at 50%).    

In general, all administrative/office support positions typically require two (2) years' progressively responsible administrative support experience with a customer service focus, including strong background in the use of computer software including MS Word and Excel.

LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

A valid driver's license is required for some administrative support positions (verified upon hire).  For applicable positions, a valid Washington State driver's license is required within 30 days of employment.

BACKGROUND SCREENING

Pursuant to the Cardholder Information Security Program (CISP) of 2001, Chelan County Public Utility District #1 is mandated to conduct background screening of personnel granted rights to access credit card holder information. This requirement is applicable to some of our administrative support positions.
