Thinking ahead and developing a long-range framework for key decisions – a strategic plan – is something the PUD has done from the very beginning. This time around, we took extra steps to engage our customers, employees and business partners in what many consider to be the most comprehensive outreach effort the PUD has conducted in recent memory. This latest version of our plan carries us forward past a pivotal point in PUD history – the expiration in 2011-12 of the first long-term power sales contracts that helped this PUD acquire and construct the valuable hydropower resources we rely on today.
A new era in PUD power sales management is approaching, and it offers an opportunity to set a solid financial course for the PUD for years to come. Our plan also specifically looks at operating reliably and efficiently, establishing and maintaining productive relationships with our customers and business partners, and operating responsibly to meet a wide variety of changing influences.
Decisions made in these next five years and beyond will significantly affect how the PUD carries out its public power mission for future generations.
Please explore the links on this page for a comprehensive look at how Chelan County PUD expects to approach these next crucial years – and beyond.
