Screen Glossary
|
The Web site screen is divided into several frames. You may want to refer to this image to identify the frame names. |
Use the back arrow on the Browser Navigation Bar to return from the display of a pdf to the menu screen that linked you there.
Each of the larger pdf documents (ICD, Scoping Docs) have bookmarks that allow easy access into the document. To view the document using bookmarks:
- On the PC: Select the Show/Hide Navigation Pane button from the Acrobat Reader Application Bar.
- On the Mac: Select the Bookmarks and Page button from the Acrobat Reader Application Bar.

The bookmark window can be closed to expand screen space. It can also be resized. This can be done by moving the cursor over the right vertical edge of the bookmark frame until the frame resizing arrows appear (
or
). Click on the resizing arrows and drag them to the left to reduce the size of the bookmark frame and to the right to expand the bookmark frame.
On a moderately sized screen, a document can get relatively small by the time you get all three frames (side menu, title, and the document) on your screen. There are several things you can do to create a full screen view of the document.
1. Resizing the side menu in Internet Explorer:
The side menu can be resized by moving the cursor over the right vertical edge of the menu's frame until the frame resizing arrows appear (
or
). Click on the resizing arrows and drag them to the left to reduce the size of the menu and to the right to expand the menu size.
2. To get the document to display in an entirely new full window without the title or side menu you can:
- On the PC: Right click on the link to the document and choose Open in a New Window from the popup menu.
- On the Mac: Hold down on the link to the document and choose Open Link in New Window from the popup menu.
To return from a full screen view, just close the window.
3. To download an entire pdf file to your local machine so that you can view it later without being connected to the Web you can:
- On the PC: Right click on the link to the document and choose Save Target As... from the popup menu.
- On the Mac: Hold down on the link to the document and choose Download Link to Disk from the popup menu.
Seeing the Latest Documents That Have Been Added
Sometimes users cannot see documents on the relicensing Web site that they have been informed have been added. Here's how to view the most recent version of the Web site:
In Internet Explorer Browser do the following:
1. Click on "Tools" on the top tool bar.
2. You will see a drop-down menu. Click on "Internet Options."
3. Three subject are displayed on the "Internet Options" menu: "Home page," "Temporary Internet files," and "History." Click on "Settings" under the "Temporary Internet files" subject.
4. A new menu will be displayed with options for "check for new versions of stored pages."
5. Click on "every visit to the page."
6. Continue clicking "OK" until you are out of all the menus.
Because of the sizes of some of the documents and the variety of speeds of people's hardware, we have indicated the size of the larger pdf documents, e.g. (500k pdf). If a pdf has no size attached you can assume that it is not significant in size.
Incremental Downloading of Documents for Faster Viewing
Some of the pdf documents on this Web site are quite large and have been optimized for incremental downloading. (Incremental downloading allows the user to view one page at a time without having to download the entire document). Our Web site supports incremental downloading and we suggest that you upgrade to Acrobat Reader 5.0 to take full advantage of this feature. To upgrade, click here to go to the upgrade page at the Adobe Site and follow the directions.
