Chelan PUD and State Parks seek community input regarding Horan Natural Area

Open houses planned on Nov. 6

What are your ideas on how best to sustain the area south of where the Wenatchee and Columbia rivers meet?

Chelan County PUD and State Parks will host two sessions on Nov. 6 to gather comments from the community on what makes the area unique and what you like to do there.

“We’re working to create a sustainable long-term plan for the area known as the Horan Area of Wenatchee Confluence State Park,” said Michelle Smith, PUD hydro licensing and compliance director. “We want to hear how people are using the area and what characteristics are important to them as we make future decisions dedicated to preserving this rare natural area for future generations.”

Wenatchee Confluence State Park and the Horan Area are owned by Chelan PUD and managed by Washington State Parks.

Open houses are planned Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2019:

  • 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and
  • 4:30-6:30 p.m. at
Confluence Technology Center, 285 Technology Way, Wenatchee

Those attending will be asked:

  • How do you use the Horan Area?
  • What are the things you most value about the area?
  • What could make your experience better?

For those who can’t attend, there is information about the area and a survey to answer the same questions online at chelanpud.org/Horan.
