Conservation/Environment Become a SNAP Supporter

When you contribute to SNAP, you essentially are buying power generated by local solar, wind and small hydropower producers. The money you contribute is divided among the SNAP producers; that’s how they are paid for the energy they produce. They also receive a nominal amount from the PUD (75 percent of the off-peak wholesale power rate).

Your purchase goes directly to the producers. The PUD does not keep any of the funds designated by customers for SNAP. Your purchase supports school and community programs as well as the development of new energy resources in Chelan County.

There’s a lot of focus nationally on sustainability these days. Supporting the Sustainable Natural Alternative Power program is an easy way to be green right here in our local communities.

Please note that SNAP contributions are not tax-deductible.
