PUD maintaining normal operations

by Suzanne Hartman | Jan 18, 2017

With most of Chelan County avoiding severe ice storm conditions, the PUD was able to maintain normal operations through the night and into the morning hours as temperatures warmed some.

“We have returned to normal field operations,” says Tim Pettit, Distribution Operations manager. “We had crews available if the conditions had been worse. Crews are back to their normal assignments today.”

Pettit went on to add that conditions can change quickly, and they are monitoring the weather closely. Plus, even with a light loading of ice or snow, trees and branches can snap and fall and be a hazard. He wants to remind everyone that if you see a downed line, don’t go anywhere near it. Call 911. The same is true if a line comes down either on your car or near your car. The safest thing to do is to stay in your car and if you have a cell phone, call 911 for help.

PUD office lobbies in Leavenworth, Chelan and Wenatchee will open at Noon today. In all likelihood, business will return to normal on Thursday at the PUD, if the weather conditions continue to moderate.

Walla Walla Point Park restrooms and the Riverfront Park restroom at the foot of Orondo Avenue in Wenatchee will be closed today. The gate at Kirby Billingsley Hydro Park in Douglas County is closed today.
