Who you gonna’ call when the eclipse (momentarily) shades your solar panel? Hydropower, that’s who. Renewable, carbon-free hydropower is the foundation of the county’s – and region’s - power supply.

That’s why Chelan County PUD wants to help customers understand solar energy and how to stay safe and enjoy watching this month’s solar eclipse. Children – and their parents – are invited to explore the cosmic magic of the near-total eclipse visible in North Central Washington skies on Aug. 21. Join us for hands-on fun this Thursday, Aug. 17, at Walla Walla Point Park in Wenatchee.

The first 100 people attending (children have priority) will receive one pair of protective paper glasses that are ISO compliant and CE (certified eclipse) lens. There will be bottled water and healthy snacks including apple slices from Crunch Pak.

Bring your enthusiasm and join the PUD for hands-on fun playing a part in a mini “solar system” and creating your own “eclipse.”

We also want to help you be safe by learning how to protect your eyes and finding a safe place to watch the eclipse – like a PUD park!

Join us from 5:30-7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 17, in Shelter #1 at Walla Walla Point Park.
