SALARY RANGE

In addition to a competitive salary range of $70,960 - $88,700 (based on qualifications, skills and abilities), Chelan PUD employees also enjoy outstanding benefits which include the option of a zero cost medical plan (medical, dental and vision for all eligible dependents), short and long-term disability, Washington State Public Employee's Retirement System, Deferred Compensation (with company matching funds up to 5%), 11 holidays and initial personal leave accrual at 21 days per year. 

Introductory Period: New employees holding regular positions must complete an introductory period of twelve months.

JOB POSTING

JOB PURPOSE:
The Systems Administrator provides reliable hardware platforms to support District critical data systems. Incumbent has primary responsibility for technical administration of District servers running Windows operating systems including installs and setup, performance tuning and ongoing monitoring. Ensure data protection via backups, security and storage administration; manage identity, access and endpoint capabilities for infrastructure, mobile and District devices; contribute technical expertise in systems integration; maintain security and compliance in hosted applications; maintain the Districts’ public key infrastructure and standardization of using modern authentication; and work closely with the District’s IT security team to follow best security practices in software deployment and cloud security practices.

1. EF 25 % Windows Server Administration: Administer Windows server environment: perform installation, setup, oversight and performance tuning. Resolve server functional problems; keep operating system patches and service packs up to date. Manage cluster server and virtual server environments and troubleshoot their related issues. Monitor and maintain server operations and implement tuning measures to proactively ensure stable, reliable functionality and high availability.

2. EF 15% Network Access Administration: Administer and maintain access to the District’s network environment and participate in modernizing identity-based access management systems and processes. Administer network user accounts and mobile device access using tools or systems such as Active Directory. Work with support analysts to ensure group policy and log in scripts contain up-to-date protection across the District. Research and apply industry best practices and District standards for maintaining data protection and system integrity.

3. EF 15% File Management: Regularly perform Windows file storage and disaster recovery activities including physical and virtual locations and access. This includes but is not limited to enabling and maintaining Storage Area Network devices; performing backups; using shadow copy or other real time technologies; and restoring files as necessary. Work with storage management team to resolve storage management issues and contribute to the development of policies and solutions to meet forecasted storage and disaster recovery needs. Analyze and troubleshoot storage and/or backup issues and resolve.

4. EF 20% Project Support: Assist with yearly IT operations projects, including, but not limited to, implementing new technologies and/or upgrading existing enterprise applications.

5. EF 10% Remote Access: Assist with management of the District’s secure remote access system as well as internal published applications or employee virtual desktop infrastructure. Help ensure that all employees are able to work remotely from any location that has an internet connection.

6. EF 10% Technical Resource Assistance: Work with Linux admins on Linux server installations; and cooperatively participate with server infrastructure integration within varied technologies. Serve as a technical resource for providing hardware configurations and technical solutions for problem requests. Work with software application developers to oversee controlled, well-managed installation of software on Windows servers. Work with other IT teams to keep District Enterprise software up to date with standardized infrastructure.

7. EF 5% Email Administration: Assist with administration of the District's email environment. Monitor, manage and maintain the clustered e-mail servers (Microsoft Exchange). Perform mailbox recovery, maintain access permissions, content filtering, storage capacity, public folders, email forms, shared calendars, voicemail integration, and automated notifications from applications and monitoring services. Assist with maintaining email retention and E-Discovery systems.

8. EF Ongoing Document all job-related processes and procedures and participate on project teams as assigned.

9. EF Ongoing Maintain regular and predictable attendance: Perform related duties and responsibilities as required. Comply with District policies. Complete all required training. Maintain a working knowledge and comply with District safety procedures and specific safety requirements of this position, and those in accordance with applicable provisions of the Revised Code of Washington (RCW) and Washington Administrative Code (WAC).

10. SF Ongoing Drive a motorized vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the District. Note: Students under 18 may not drive more than 20% of any work week.

Post-Secondary Education:
No post-secondary education required. Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, or Bachelor’s degree (B.S. or B.A.) from a college or university, in a field related to Information Technologies is preferred. Additional training with certification as a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) preferred. Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA) desired.

Experience:
Typically requires a minimum of three (3) years experience installing computer software and hardware including experience in PC and networked environments along with current Windows operating systems for enterprise servers and PC Experience including the setup and configuration of servers and Microsoft Active Directory required. Experience with virtual server and storage technologies preferred. Preference also given to candidates with Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft SharePoint, Exchange, Citrix, and VMware virtual server environment; experience managing Office 365 infrastructure including Azure Active Directory.

Specific KSA's: A fully skilled incumbent will have the following specific knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Knowledge:

  • Extensive knowledge of microcomputer hardware components and technology that includes network components and other peripheral networked equipment.
  • General working knowledge of a variety of software applications, particularly the MS O365 Suite.
  • Familiarity with general office procedures

Skills & Abilities:

  • Effective interpersonal skills to communicate with technical personnel in the computer arena, as well as those without technical knowledge.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and coordinate responsibilities with peer associates
  • Ability to respond supportively to computer users.

Language Skills:
Must be proficient in reading, writing and speaking English.

Computers & Equipment: A fully skilled incumbent will have the ability to utilize the following software, hardware, or equipment:
To perform this job successfully, an individual is required to have basic knowledge of General Office Equipment and Microsoft Word; intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Mechanical Tape Libraries, Network Traffic Monitoring Devices and Network Attached Storage; advanced knowledge in Microsoft Outlook, PC Hardware and Servers.
