SALARY RANGE

The position will be filled at Level II or Senior based on an incumbent's qualifications, skills and abilities. In addition to a competitive salary range of $73,760 - $92,200 (level II) and $90,480 - $113,100 (Senior), Chelan PUD employees also enjoy outstanding benefits which include the option of a zero cost medical plan (medical, dental and vision for all eligible dependents), short and long-term disability, Washington State Public Employee's Retirement System, Deferred Compensation (with company matching funds up to 5%), 11 holidays and initial personal leave accrual at 21 days per year. 

Introductory Period: New employees holding regular positions must complete an introductory period of twelve months.

JOB PURPOSE:                        
The Hydro Data Analyst will design, develop, enhance and utilize advanced data analytics, business intelligence information, and business processes to enable the District to build and sustain a ‘best in industry’ data-driven decision making environment, supporting a culture of continuous learning.

JOB FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function of the job satisfactorily.  Essential functions (EF) are those activities that, if not performed, would significantly and fundamentally alter the position. 

#  EF Job Functions
1. EF Work and Outage Reporting, Communications & Collaboration - Regularly coordinate with Generation Operations and Maintenance work groups, Project Management,  Asset Management, and the Generation Business office to ensure the information from various budgeting, scheduling and planning systems are up to date and accurate.   Coordinates mid and long term scheduling activities and assists with plan development to achieve strategic goals.  Identifies over or under utilization of resources and communicates potential conflicts of resource allocations, work sequencing objectives and priorities to divisional management and other internal service providers. 

2. EF  Data Analytics - Design, develop, enhance and use advanced data analytics and tools to meet customer and business decision-making needs.  Analyze complex data and related information and formulate a wide range of insights.  Draw conclusions and recommend new or changes to existing analytics.  Perform research & analysis on data analytics practices and techniques.  Be a data and analytics resource for special projects, client requests and reports requiring analytics.  May programmatically evaluate noisy data and develop automated analytics processes; explore data sources, processes, uses and definition and clean, process and translate data into model designs that are tested, refined, moved to production and maintained. Perform ad-hoc requests as assigned and make recommendations to management related to strategy and operations insights.

3. EF Business Intelligence - Collaborate, design, develop, implement and troubleshoot new and existing business intelligence reporting tools.  Identify data-driven information, metrics and reporting needs and requirements.  Seek opportunities for stakeholders to utilize data analytics and business intelligence tools to enhance District’s capabilities in being a data-driven organization.  Test and validate tools and data for accuracy.  Conduct quality assurance checks, create recurring reports and develop reporting dashboards.  Sr. level leads discussions with the Data Analytics and Business Intelligence core team.

4. EF  Reporting, Communications & Collaboration - Build and maintain strong collaborative working relationships.  Provide regular progress updates and feedback to management and customers.  Leverage internal subject matter expertise.  Train and coach users of business intelligence and data analytics tools.  Perform complex ad-hoc requests, including data analytics, reporting needs, and process improvements and automations.  Make written and verbal recommendations to management to provide ongoing insight into strategy and operations.

5. EF  Project & People Leadership - Participates on project teams.  May lead data analytics, business intelligence initiative, or research efforts.  Provide training and guidance to junior level staff. Sr. level fosters strong collaborative working relationships with members of cross-functional teams and internal stakeholders, prioritizing and resolving roadblocks, and seeking ways to improve methods for utilization of data analytics and business intelligence. 

6. EF Ongoing Maintain regular and predictable attendance.  Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.  Comply with District policies.  Complete all required training. Maintain a working knowledge and comply with District safety procedures and specific safety requirements of this position, and those in accordance with applicable provisions of the Revised Code of Washington (RCW) and Washington Administrative Code (WAC).

Post-Secondary Education:                        
Bachelor’s degree (B.S., B.A. from a college or university) in mathematics, business, information technology, management information systems, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Master’s Degree preferred.

Experience:                        
This position typically requires a minimum of four (4) years progressively responsible experience in a data analytics or business intelligence role with demonstrate examples of designing, developing and implementing all of the following:  Technology solutions to support user needs; complex data analytics;
corporate performance reporting, and dashboards.

To perform this job successfully, an individual is required to have knowledge of PC Hardware and General Office Equipment.  Intermediate knowledge is required in Maximo Order Processing; PeopleSoft Financials; Microsoft Outlook; and Microsoft Word;   Advanced knowledge is required in Maximo Asset Management; Microsoft PowerPoint; Microsoft Excel; Primavera; iTOA; Pi Historian; Cognos

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts.  The noise level is usually moderate.  Close proximity to electric field can potentially interfere with heart pacemakers.
