CONTRACT RATE

In addition to the Contract Rate of $13.67 - $24.12 (which may be determined by previous employment) Chelan PUD employees also enjoy outstanding benefits which include the option of a zero cost medical plan (medical, dental and vision for all eligible dependents), holidays and personal leave accrual. 

JOB DURATION

Seasonal park positions are open now and may continue to become available during the 2019 season. Positions may be for 3-6 months and vary in working hours and locations (Chelan/Beebe Bridge, Walla Walla, Rocky Reach and/or Kirby Billingsley).

Park employees work five consecutive days, 40 hours per week, which includes holidays and weekends; employees have two consecutive days off per week - for example, Monday and Tuesday; subject to change based on operational needs. Work hours vary and may be 6:00 am - 2:30 pm or 2:30 - 11:00 pm; based on operational needs and subject to change. There is possible overtime on weekends and holidays to accommodate "park closing" activities.

JOB POSTING

JOB PURPOSE:
Perform park landscape and maintenance duties, using hand or power tools or equipment or cleaning/sanitizing supplies. Workers typically perform a variety of tasks, which may include any combination of the following: mowing, sod laying, trimming, watering, fertilizing, digging, raking, sprinkler installation and maintenance, litter and rubbish removal, cleaning and sanitizing restroom and picnic shelter facilities, turf and planting bed maintenance, curb, sidewalk, trail maintenance, operating automotive and grounds maintenance equipment such as ball field grooming equipment, large riding mowers, front end loaders, tillers, power rakes, and small snow removal equipment. Assist in meeting the needs of the general public and special event organizers as directed by the Park Foreman, and Park Management Staff. Accountable for assisting others in maintaining District owned and operated parks.

JOB FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function of the job satisfactorily. No. EF/SF Job Functions
1. EF Landscape Maintenance: Debris hauling, leaf removal, planting/barking, sod, shrub care, weeding, tilling, trail and road edging, turf aerating, turf mowing, turf sweeping, turf maintenance, turf thatching, and weed eating.

2. EF  Custodial Maintenance: Garbage pickup, litter pickup, rubbish removal, restroom and shelter cleaning and sanitizing.

3. EF  Equipment Operation and Maintenance: perform weekly maintenance on equipment such as sharpening blades, greasing, and maintaining fluid levels. Operate large riding mowers, front end loaders, tillers, power rakes, small snow removal equipment, mowing equipment, pruning equipment, athletic field equipment, pressure washers, etc.

4. EF  Recreation Area Maintenance: Baseball, basketball, horseshoe pits, soccer, play equipment, tennis, and volleyball. Grooming, raking, sweeping, trimming, line painting, layout, and managing ball field dust thru the use of a fire hose to wet the fields.

5. EF  Facility Care and Maintenance: painting, vandalism repair, assist Foreman or PM2 in carpentry and light bulb and or low voltage valve replacements as needed. 

6. EF  Hard Surface Maintenance: Parking lots, drains, sidewalks, curbs, trail sweeping and edging. 

7. EF  Marine Maintenance: Boat launch, docks and swim area debris removal and other routine maintenance as required.

8. EF  Sign Maintenance: General removal and replacement, graffiti removal, cleaning.

9. EF  Utilities Maintenance: irrigation, sprinklers, and swing joint repair and replacement. Lighting: bulb replacement, fixture cleaning.

10. EF  Administrative: Counter reading, safety/training, and special events. Campground registration duties, (handling money) Communicate with other staff as needed.

11. EF  Drive a motorized vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the District.

12. EF  Maintain regular and predictable attendance. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required. Comply with District policies. Complete all required training. Maintain a working knowledge and comply with District safety procedures and specific safety requirements of this position, and those in accordance with applicable provisions of the Revised Code of Washington (RCW) and Washington Administrative Code (WAC).

Post-Secondary Education:
No higher-level education required.

Experience:
Park Aide is an entry-level position and experience with landscape and facility maintenance is helpful. Park Maintenance 1 positions require a minimum of one year of professional experience with landscape and facility maintenance and full competency in completing the following tasks: safe operation of Massey and Kubota tractors with attachments, safe operation of chain saw, safe operation of a boat with outboard tiller steering, ability to assist with herbicide/pesticide application, ability to repair and replace irrigation sprinklers, PVC pipe and associated fitting and electric irrigation valves.

Specific KSA's: A fully skilled incumbent will have the following specific knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Knowledge:
• Should have a working knowledge of techniques and basic tools associated with a variety of landscaping and park maintenance tasks.

Language Skills:
Candidate must be proficient in reading, writing and speaking English. Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is desired.

Computers & Equipment: A fully skilled incumbent will have the ability to utilize the following software, hardware, or equipment:

To perform this job successfully, an individual will be able to safely operate heavy equipment, power equipment and other various manual tools or supplies including, but not limited to pickup trucks, Cushman turf carts, riding mowers, ladders, screwdrivers, wrenches, shovels, rakes, loppers, and brooms, various power tools including saws, drills, push mowers, and weed eaters, cleaning materials and supplies, painting supplies, and pest control equipment and supplies.

LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

A valid driver's license is required for this position (verified upon hire).  A valid Washington State driver's license is required within 30 days of employment.
