Chelan County PUD
News Release
8/3/2010
John Janney (pronounced JANE‐ee), 48, was appointed general manager of the PUD by the Board of Commissioners Aug. 3, 2010.
Janney first joined the PUD in 2007 as executive manager of risk and chief risk officer – and has served in the combined role of chief financial officer and chief risk officer since 2008. He directed development of the utility’s new financial policies, recently adopted by the Board of Commissioners as part of long‐term strategic planning.
A native of Deer Lodge, Mont., Janney began his career in banking and served at the Boston Federal Reserve Bank and the Federal Reserve Board of Governors in Washington, D.C. Wanting to be closer to home, he moved west in 1995, where he has worked at several public utilities and energy companies including Idaho Power and Arizona Public Service (APS). Janney strives for sustainability in organizations he manages, both financially and environmentally.
He and his wife, Colette, are active in the Wenatchee area community, and their three children keep them busy with soccer, volleyball, basketball, softball and band. As a family, they enjoy skiing in the winter, biking in the summer and camping year‐round.
As general manager, Janney plans to build on the momentum created by former General Manager Rich Riazzi, including finalizing the strategic plan this fall. Janney is committed to an open dialogue with customers, employees and the PUD’s many business partners about the priorities of the PUD and continuing to ensure low rates and reliable service consistent with a financially stable public power utility.
