Chelan County PUD
News Release
7/23/2010
A contractor for Chelan County PUD will start work Aug. 2 on a project to improve water and power service for customers living along Skyline Drive and Skyline Place in Wenatchee. The work includes installing nearly a mile of underground conduit and electrical equipment and about 3,800 feet of new water line.
For safety and efficiency, Skyline Drive from the Wenatchee Racquet and Athletic Club (WRAC) to Appleland Drive will be closed to through traffic for about two months. The road will be open for local access by residents, and the contractor will provide traffic control to help residents get in and out of their homes safely. The contractor is coordinating the road closure and detours with the city of Wenatchee.
Hurst Construction of East Wenatchee will be doing the work. Total project cost is $750,000, and work is scheduled to be completed by the end of October.
Water line improvements include installing new 12-inch pipe to replace the existing 6-inch pipe. The electrical upgrades include installing new conduit, ducts and vaults in preparation for future replacement of the 1970s-era power line that is buried directly in the ground. The work will also consolidate PUD water, power and fiber lines in one corridor to make future improvements easier.
