Chelan County PUD
News Release
5/16/2010
Wind pushing tree limbs into power lines is the likely cause of a power outage that left about 500 Chelan County PUD customers in Navarre Coulee and along the south shore of Lake Chelan without service for about two hours Sunday night.
The first report of the outage came at 7:45 p.m. from a customer in Navarre Coulee, who also reported lightning in the area. The outage extended to the south shore of Lake Chelan above the yacht club and to customers along the lakeshore toward Chelan.
PUD crews called in to check the lines found evidence of tree limbs contacting the high-voltage line, but no serious damage. Electric service was restored to all customers about 9:45 p.m.
