Power restored in the upper Wenatchee Valley

Chelan County PUD
News Release
5/16/2010

A power outage reported about 4 a.m. Sunday left about 1,900 Chelan County PUD customers without electric service for about three hours. The cause of the outage was traced back to the Peshastin-Dryden Substation where crews found the remains of a cat that had gotten inside the fence and onto the high-voltage equipment.

The outage affected customers in the Peshastin-Dryden area including Derby, Anderson, Ollala and Williams canyons and south past Beecher Hill and up the Blewett Pass highway to Campbell Road and beyond.

Electric service was restored to customers about 7 a.m. Sunday by rerouting power from the Mission Substation in Cashmere and the Leavenworth Substation. It’s not known yet how long repairs at the Peshastin-Dryden Substation will take.
