Chelan County PUD
News Release
5/3/2010
Chelan County PUD crews responded to several wind-related power outages Monday morning affecting customers in Manson and Malaga. Winds also prompted the closure of Kirby Billingsley Hydro Park for the day so crews can clean up tree limbs and debris.
The outage in Manson affected 600-plus customers along Manson Boulevard, Lakeshore Drive and Boetzke Avenue starting about 8:30 a.m. Power was rerouted and service was restored to all but about a dozen customers by 9:55 a.m. The outage was traced to a downed wire in an alley between Pedoi and Nequilekin streets.
Calls reporting a power outage in the Malaga and Stemilt Hill area came in about 9 a.m. A tree limb was removed from lines on Hamlin Road and PUD crews are patrolling the line to check for other problems. It’s not unknown when power will be restored to those 150 customers.
PUD Parks crews have closed Kirby Billingsley Hydro Park for the day to clean up tree limbs and debris blown into the park. Staff will evaluate the progress and decide later in the day if the ball fields can be opened for afternoon and evening practice. The park is along the Columbia River south of East Wenatchee.
