PUD to pay share of Entiat sewer upgrades

Commissioners on Tuesday approved a $1.16 million payment to Entiat for a share of upgrade costs and future maintenance at the city sewer treatment plant, which provides service to the PUD’s Entiat Park. The park is owned by the PUD and operated by the city.

As part of the settlement agreement for the new Rocky Reach Dam license, the District has committed to improvements for Entiat Park. Those improvements will increase the impact on the sewer system. The payment covers costs for the 43-year term of the federal license.

Payment will be made in 2010. 

Under new reliability rules, Chelan PUD reaches settlements

PUD commissioners authorized the general manager to sign two settlement agreements and pay $42,000 to the Western Electric Coordinating Council (WECC) following an audit of the PUD’s compliance with new reliability standards and additional self-reporting by the PUD.

The two settlement agreements represent penalties for violating four standards, two of which were self-reported by the District. The settlements with WECC specifically recognize that the District has an excellent record of reliability and that the violations did not pose any substantial risk to the bulk electric system. WECC also said the PUD’s compliance program was “exemplary.”

In other business, commissioners:

• Heard a report from General Manager Rich Riazzi that acting on authority given by the board in July, he took action related to the money owed to the District by Lehman Brothers Commodity Services and Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. for prior energy purchases now that both firms are in bankruptcy. The District’s claim of $440,084 was sold to another firm for $191,920.
