PUD to take online job applications

Chelan County PUD will debut an online job application process Feb. 13. Prospective employees have been able to view job openings on the PUD Web site for several years, but paper applications were still required.

Now applicants can “light up your career,” by reviewing job openings, posting their resumes and submitting applications online at www.chelanpud.org in the new “Careers” section.

“Moving the process online makes it easier for the District to reach qualified candidates and for prospective employees to learn about the variety of careers available in public power,” said Ruth Erwert, PUD recruiting manager. “It’s more efficient and helps us reduce the amount of paper generated in the process.”

Among the benefits of online applications are:

• The ability to send the PUD your resume, even if there isn’t a current opening. Until now the PUD only accepted resumes for current openings and didn’t keep them on file after a job was filled.
• Online tools for writing a resume if you don’t have one.
• E-mail alerts when job openings that match your skills and interests are posted.
• Faster response during the hiring process.

With the new technology in place, the PUD will accept only online applications. For individuals without computers, the District has installed dedicated computers for job applications in the lobbies of its offices in Wenatchee, Chelan and Leavenworth. The computers will be available on a first-come, first-served basis during business hours.

On Feb. 13 applicants going to the PUD Web site will find job postings and the online application under the “Careers” section on the left side of the home page, which will replace the “Working at the PUD” section. More Web features will be added as people become familiar with the new online application process, Erwert said.
