Umbrella causes brief power outage

A patio umbrella apparently blew into power lines Thursday afternoon, causing a 10-minute outage in Wenatchee neighborhoods around Cherry Street that affected up to 850 Chelan County PUD customers.

PUD crews found the singed umbrella underneath lines near Cherry and Lambert streets after the outage was reported about 2:40 p.m. After checking the equipment, the line was re-energized and power restored by 2:50 p.m.
