Mid-C PUDs welcome scientist Patrick Moore

Mid-Columbia PUDs are pleased to host two community presentations by Patrick Moore, Ph.D., a founding member and former president of Greenpeace, who is now chair and chief scientist of the environmental consulting firm Greenspirit Strategies.
As a leader of the international environmental movement for more than 30 years, Moore reveals the myths and misinformation that distort current environmental debates. He calls for issues to be discussed on the basis of accurate scientific data, a search for consensus and the creation of sustainable solutions.
The commissioners of Chelan, Douglas and Grant County PUDs invite the public to attend two free presentations, offered as part of their continuing commitment to environmental stewardship. All three public utilities have a stake in identifying affordable alternate energy solutions and supporting hydropower as a renewable resource as part of a sustainable energy future.
“The only way to reduce fossil fuel emissions from electrical production is through an aggressive program of renewable energy sources (hydroelectric, geothermal heat pumps, wind, etc.) plus nuclear,” said Moore. Wind and solar power have their place, but because they are intermittent and unpredictable they simply can't replace big baseload plants such as coal, nuclear and hydroelectric.”
Moore will speak in Moses Lake, Wash., on Tuesday, June 3, at the Big Bend Community College ATEC Building and in Wenatchee, Wash., on Wednesday, June 4, at the Wenatchee High School auditorium.
