Searching for a sustainable energy future
Mid-Columbia PUDs are pleased to host two community presentations, June 3 and 4, by Patrick Moore, Ph.D., a founding member and former president of Greenpeace, who is now chair and chief scientist of the environmental consulting firm Greenspirit Strategies.
As a leader of the international environmental movement for more than 30 years, Moore reveals the myths and misinformation that distort current environmental debates. He calls for issues to be discussed on the basis of accurate scientific data, a search for consensus and the creation of sustainable solutions.
Chelan, Douglas and Grant County PUDs invite you to attend these free presentations, offered as part of their continuing commitment to environmental stewardship.
Public invited to help review cost of service
A public workshop will be held at 5:30 p.m. June 2 at the Confluence Technology Center to hear a report on the cost-of-service study that was requested by the Board of Commissioners as part of last year’s strategic planning discussions. Commissioners asked staff to evaluate what it costs to provide electrical, water and wastewater services to the different kinds of PUD customers (residential, commercial, etc.) The study will help determine whether rate adjustments are necessary.
Dock permitting to continue on PUD lands
After discussing the issue at numerous meetings since February, a majority of Chelan County PUD commissioners voted May 12 to allow more permits for private docks over PUD-owned land on Lake Chelan and the Rocky Reach reservoir. Read more.
PUD insurance costs are lower
Chelan County PUD will pay about $129,000 less for insurance coverage for the coming year, the result of working closely with carriers to explain District operations and because of changes in the insurance market. Learn more.
