Following more discussion on the policy allowing permits for private docks over PUD-owned land on Lake Chelan and the Rocky Reach Reservoir, commissioners have asked staff to present a final proposal for a decision on May 12. The PUD owns about 7 percent of waterfront property behind Rocky Reach Dam, and less than 2 percent of waterfront property on Lake Chelan as well as some submerged land both places. PUD readies for new meter system
Chelan County PUD is moving down the path to begin installation of automated electric meters for all customers, starting this year. Replacing every electric meter over the next several years is estimated to cost up to $15 million. Customers served by the Squilchuck Substation, south and west of Wenatchee, will be the first to be served by the electric automated meter system (AMS). It was chosen because of the variety of terrain, types of service and age of equipment in that part of the PUD system. Work there could begin later this year. Other areas will be added after performance at Squilchuck is reviewed.
Security program receives national award
