Outage will affect 800 customers

Chelan County PUD
News Release
4/3/2008

A two-hour power outage scheduled to start at 9 a.m. on Monday, April 7, will affect about 800 Chelan County PUD electric customers on Lake Chelan's South Shore, from Twenty-five Mile Creek to the state park including Chelan Ridge.

The outage is needed to prepare for installation of a second, underwater distribution line to carry electricity from the Manson Substation to PUD customers on the lake's South Shore. Contractor Mountain Power of Post Falls, Idaho, has started work on running the second, 25-KV distribution line. The existing line was installed in the 1980s. It delivers electricity to about 800 PUD customers and has outlived its estimated useful life.

The 3,400 feet of power line will follow the same route as the existing line. Total project cost is estimated at $1.3 million and is set to be finished in two months.

Another power outage will be scheduled in about three weeks when the second line is ready to be energized. PUD customers will be notified by mail and advertising as soon as that date is set.
