Discussion of dock permit policy set for April 7
Chelan County PUD
News Release
3/28/2008
Chelan County PUD commissioners invite people to discuss the policy on permits for docks on PUD-owned land along the Rocky Reach Reservoir and at Lake Chelan at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, April 7.
Docks and buoys are allowed by permit to private land owners whose property is next to District land if there is no conflict with District use or future plans.
The majority of shoreline is privately owned. Any change in policy would affect only the 7 percent of the Rocky Reach Reservoir land owned outright by the PUD. On Lake Chelan, other than its parks, the PUD owns less than 2 percent of the shoreline.
Changes would not affect land that is privately owned on which the District holds flowage easements.
Discussion on April 7 will cover options including:
- Keeping the same policy.
- Changing the effective length of permits.
- Making a distinction between land that is submerged and shoreline.
- Banning new docks on District-owned land.
- A combination of some of the above or other options suggested at the meeting.
- The discussion will be part of the regular PUD commission meeting.
