Water work may slow traffic

Chelan County PUD
News Release
2/19/2008

Construction to extend Chelan County PUD’s water system to Monitor has started, and drivers are asked to be on the alert for flaggers and equipment.

Water lines are being installed through Feb. 29 west of Wenatchee along Lower Monitor Road between Easy Street and Warm Springs Drive. Access is limited to residents and flaggers are on duty during the day.

Connections to the system are also being installed along Easy Street through Feb. 29, but no major traffic delays are expected. System connections will be installed along Lower Monitor Road starting Feb. 25.

Efforts to improve the drinking water supply for Monitor, west of Wenatchee, date back to the early 1990s. PUD commissioners approved construction of the project in July 2007, which is being financed with state and federal loans and grants. The new water system can serve 263 customers and 42 hydrants and includes nearly eight miles of new pipe to carry water from the existing PUD system in Sunnyslope.
