Outage needed for fire repairs
Chelan County PUD
News Release
9/26/2007
About 100 residential customers will be without electricity much of the day Wednesday as PUD crews replace five power poles burned during a brush fire Tuesday night north of Howard Flats. The poles carry a power line serving customers in areas including Antoine Creek, Washington Creek and north to Azwell Road.
The best estimate was that power would be restored Wednesday evening, but that estimate could change if unusual conditions are encountered as crews work in the remote area north of Chelan toward Wells Dam.
Three other power poles along Highway 97 were replaced during the night Tuesday, and PUD crews took a break for breakfast shortly before resuming their work at first light today. Power remained on through the night for all but one customer, and the planned outage for the remaining pole replacements began shortly after 7 a.m. today after firefighters told the PUD it would be safe for crews to enter the burned area.
