Wenatchee downtown hit by 20-minute power outage

Chelan County PUD
News Release
4/19/2007

Power was out to the downtown area of Wenatchee for about 20 minutes Thursday after debris caused a fault in lines at Orondo Avenue and Worthen Street. Power went off at about 2:35 p.m. to an area approximately between Orondo Avenue and Palouse Street, and between Worthen and Mission Streets.

Sticks apparently fell from an Osprey nesting platform on a power pole causing the fault. Chelan County PUD crews found burned sticks and damage to a bird guard which is installed between the platform and power lines to protect both birds and the lines. The debris was removed and power restored by 2:55 p.m.. No birds were injured.
