2009 Summer Science Learning Experience


See what there is to discover. Free weekly programs will be held at the Rocky Reach Learning Center starting in mid-June and running through early August. Taught by visitor center staff, these classes will be tailored for the grade school scientist and include a packet of materials with pre- and post-visit activities.


Dahlia Delight (adult program)

Explore the Dahlia from its origins in Mexico, travels through Europe, and ultimately, its worldwide distribution. The Dahlia garden at Rocky Reach Park Arboretum will provide a beautiful area to study cultural requirements and enjoy dozens of cultivars in full bloom.

How did the river form? What lives in it? Who uses it? What is it used for?

July 14 & 15 -  Solar Power

Using the power of the sun to power our lives, cars, go carts, lights and homes.

July 21& 22 -  Life Cycle of the Salmon

Discover the incredible journey of a salmon from the day of birth to the return for spawning.  Make your own lifecycle bracelet.

July 28 & 29 - Fish Eggs Hatching

Experience the Rocky Reach East Bank Fish Hatchery. See the  incubators, eggs and the juveniles. Learn how it all works.

August 4 & 5 - Static Electricity

Where do electrons come from? How do they move? What do they do?
